Entertainment Weekly brings an exclusive first look at Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander in “The Light Between Oceans“.

Scandinavian screen siren Alicia Vikander and German-Irish leading man Michael Fassbender are all aglow in a newly released image from Derek Cianfrance’s period drama The Light Between Oceans.

Directed and adapted by Cianfrance (Blue Valentine, The Place Between the Pines) from M.L. Stedman’s novel of the same name, Oceans tells the story of a lighthouse keeper and his wife who find a baby and a dead body in a rowboat and decide to raise the child as their own in post-World War I Australia.

The film is one of several big-screen projects in the works for each actor, both of whom have bounced between prestige pictures and more mainstream fare with aplomb. Fassbender’s upcoming movies include X-Men: Apocalypse, Assassin’s Creed, and an untitled Terrence Malick movie, while Vikander will be seen in the next Bourne movie and Wim Wenders’ Submergence.

The Light Between Oceans, from DreamWorks and Disney, is due in theaters later this year.

Michael Fassbender attended the 2016 Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala where he received the International Star Award. Here are the some pictures:
