Michael and the cast attended the premiere and press conference for X-Men: Days of Future Past today in New York, here are pictures thanks to Holly:

During the press day for 12 Years a Slave, Steve asked Michael Fassbender the status of Prometheus 2, and Fassbender quickly responded, “I don’t know.” Today at the junket for X-Men: Days of Future Past, the question came up again, and this time he said the project is a go, although he didn’t know when it would begin filming. When we last reported on the film, it seemed like filming was already given the greenlight, but then another report said that there was no release date, it’s unclear if Ridley Scott would return to direct, and that they’ve only hired a new writer (Michael Green). It’s still unclear if Scott wants to get in the director’s chair again, but Fassbender’s confirmation is still a step forward in the project’s development. I, for one, am excited to see the continuing adventures of David’s disembodied head.

Personally, while I think Fassbender is easily one of the best things in Prometheus, I hope Scott doesn’t return to direct. As you can see from the special features on the Prometheus Blu-ray, he was constantly changing his mind, and ultimately the result was a movie that was visually impressive but made very little sense. There’s still potential in the story, but I’m hoping that Scott is lured towards something else. He could do a drama about concussions in pro football, Blade Runner 2, the young adult fantasy Fae, or any other movie that catches his fancy. Ridley Scott is never hurting when it comes to directing vehicles.
Assuming he does decide to do Prometheus 2, the earliest we would see it would be 2016. Scott’s new film, Exodus: Gods and Kings, opens later this year.
Regarding the specific exchange on Prometheus 2, Steve asked Fassbender if he was looking forward to working with Scott on sequel, and he replied, “For sure. I love Ridley. He’s a master filmmaker,” at which point James McAvoy, who was also part of the interview, turned to Fassbender and asked, “Are you doing a sequel?”
Fassbender turned to his X-Men co-star and replied, “Yeah, but when I don’t know.”

Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard in Macbeth

From Empire.com

The film comes from Snowtown director Justin Kurzel, adapting Shakespeare’s play for the big screen in – as you can see – a homespun, rough-around-the-edges take on the story.

For the three of you who missed it in English lit class in school, Macbeth encounters three witches after a succesful battle and hears a prophecy that he will become King. When other of their predictions come true, he begins to wonder if they were on to something, and at the behest of his wife, decides to double down on the toil and trouble and engage in a spot of conspiracy and murder to take the throne. Predictably, life ain’t quite so easy for someone who proves so lacking in the milk of human kindness.

This new version of Macbeth also stars David Thewlis, Jack Reynor, Sean Harris, Paddy Considine and Elizabeth Debicki, and is something wicked that will this way come in 2015. Screw your anticipation to the sticking place, everyone!

Though the project has been in active development for over a year and already has an August 7, 2015 release date, the Assassin’s Creed movie had thus far been moving ahead without a director. It appears that this has changed, though, as Variety reports that Justin Kurzel is now in talks to helm the video game adaptation for New Regency. Michael Fassbender is producing and attached to star in the pic, and Kurzel last helmed the upcoming Macbeth feature film adaptation in which Fassbender is also the star.

Daniel Espinosa (Safe House) had been rumored as a possibility to direct Assassin’s Creed a few months ago and Gareth Evans (The Raid) was also apparently eyed for the gig, but Variety adds that Fassbender lobbied hard for Kurzel to land the job. Screenwriter Michael Lesslie performed the most recent rewrite on the script, and wouldn’t you know it, he also wrote Macbeth. Kurzel is currently in post-production on the Shakespeare adaptation, but he’ll likely move right into Assassin’s Creed once he’s finished.
